How much do you REALLY love me?...

With winds whisking round the gables of Media Eden towers and forecasters predicting that the white stuff is heading our way, internet shopping is the flavour of the month. Especially if you're looking for that very special something that can't be found on the High Street.

Arkwrights boutique whisky shop in Highworth on the edge of The Cotswolds offers an amazing array of over 800 whiskies in stock.  With worldwide shipping and owner experts  Ken and Fran THomas on hand to give you advice, Arkwrights offers a very unique service via their website.

What do you buy the whisky lover who has everything?  Arkwrights has the answer - a bottle of 50-year-old Dalmore Candela single malt - on offer at a mere £7,500! The price tag may seem a little hard to swallow but when you consider its potential investment value and longevity, this could be the Christmas gift that keeps giving.

Only 77 bottles have ever been released. Created by master blender Richard Paterson, the Candela includes single malts from 1868, the youngest malt is 60 years old. The tasting notes highlight ginger cake, butterscotch, roasted coffee, spiced toffee and thick cut marmalade - Christmas in a (very beautiful) bottle. Keep it for another 50 years and that works out at just £150 per Christmas - probably less that you'll spend each year on meaningless little stocking fillers and this year's trend in baubles.

So ditch the kitsch and show someone how much you REALLY love them this year! Ken and Fran Thomas at Arkwrights whisky shop are always delighted to give customers advice. With such an array in stock, they can find something to suit everyone, whether its a tasting gift set or a rare & collectable whisky. You don't have to spend £7,500 to treat that special someone, but just imagine that smile on Christmas morning .....Dalmore Candela Arkwrights Whisky Shop

Virgin or Lover?

Whether you are a Whisky Lover or a Whisky Virgin, a tasting evening is the perfect opportunity to sample, savour and learn more about whisky.

Fran and Ken Thomas of boutique Arkwrights Whisky Shop are teaming up with the talented team at Wesley House to offer a Whisky Tasting Supper with a difference.  Five carefully selected whiskies have been matched with Wesley House's inspired 'bowl food' dishes and you will find out more about each of the whiskies as Ken & Fran guide you through the evening.

The event is being held in the modern & vibrant setting of Wesley House's Bar & Grill.  With ticket at just £25 including all 5 whiskies and dishes - its a real winter warmer!

Tickets are available to buy online from Arkwrights via their website or by calling Wesley House - more info here

new faces

Talk about times are a'changin.  Not only are we about to move to our new location in the more rural reaches of Gloucestershire but we have welcomed a new face to the Media Eden team.

Debbie is working fast to learn the ropes that binds Media Eden to our loyal and lovely clients.  You can read Debbie's first blog here and you can follow her on Twitter @DebbieMediaEden.

And yes I did make her wear the silly hats..... :-)

Christmas comes but twice a year..

Forward planning for our clients means that we have to think out of season, rummaging in the loft for christmas decorations in early October felt more than wrong!  A Christmas photoshoot for our client Arkwrights whisky shop  in Highworth involved creating whisky cocktails ready for the festive season.  A tasteful bauble here and a frothed up egg white there transformed into a tempting selection of cocktails which could grace any elegant christmas table.

Arkwrights' astonishing selection of over 800 whiskies (and we mean actually in stock, not on some virtual list) is a haven for the whisky lover and whether you're in a cottage in the Cotswolds or a pad in Paris, Arkwrights' international shipping service means the entire selection is just a mere finger click away!  Christmas is a busy time for Arkwrights as whisky fans from around the world flock to the website for rare, collectable or just downright drinkable whiskies.  However many people in the local area don't even know the shop exists.

Hence our PR plan for Arkwrights is focused heavily on the local region and a number of features will roll out over the next 3 months in selection of titles, making sure that the residents of the Cotswolds and Wiltshire realise they have such expertise on their doorstep.

Arkwrights Whisky Shop

Expertise is one of the keys to Arkwrights' success. Owners Ken and Fran Thomas are passionate, knowledgeable and love nothing more than sharing their knowledge with the mystified shopper who is seeking the perfect present for the whisky lover who appears to have everything, the connoisseur seeking a dram with a difference or the 'whisky virgin' who is looking for a good starting point to explore the expansive world of whisky.

Fran has headed off to the Abhainn Dearg whisky launch this week, leaving Ken holding the fort.  Wish we were there!

Whisky Galore

A recent trip to Scotland by Media Eden's team captain, Jennie, promoted the perfect excuse to arrange a distillery visit on behalf of our clients Arkwrights, generating some video content for the forthcoming new website.  The Wiltshire based whisky shop boasts over 800 whiskies in stock but a trip to Oban Distillery unearthed a special Distillery Bottling that is only sold there - what a perfect excuse for a wee dram!

Distillery owners Diageo couldn't have been more accommodating and big thanks to the delighteful Frances who expressed terror at the thought of being filmed and then proved to be a pro!  The Sensory & Flavour tour is illuminating and the delightful little distillery is obviously run by people with passion about their brand, much like Ken & Fran at Arkwrights themselves.

It didn't take much persuasion to try the 14 year old single malt  and the distillers choice - then a nibble on crystallised ginger brought a whole new flavour to the whisky.  With distinctive notes of honey, smoke orange and sea salt, it proved the perfect panacea to a rather damp day in Oban.

Had we known we'd then have to take a 60 mile detour because 'the bridge was doon' then we may have come away with more than 3 bottles.....
