A poisoned drug garden for Sudeley
Next Monday, 4th July, sees the opening of a new garden at Sudeley, the first for several years. Lady Ashcombe has been working with Sudeley's new Garden Design Consultant, Sir Roddy Llewellyn, to develop a Healing Garden Walk featuring herbs used in medicine, cosmetics, cooking and even as poisons throughout history. The Herb Garden Walk, comprising six separate gardens, with a thematic link, which will inform and fascinate visitors concerning the Wisdom of Nature and the many applications our ancestors had for the plants they grew.
Lady Ashcombe will be using some of the calming, fragrant herbs and essential oils gathered from the gardens to develop a new line of Sudeley scented candles and other products which will be on the shelves next year.
